To tell the truth, I have never worried about the length of the stories published on the blog . But it is equally true that I have published few in recent years, with an average of one or two per year. If I were to open a short story blog today, with the experience I have accumulated in blogging, I would limit myself to a certain maximum length, without exceeding 3000 words. Very long stories can be divided into two or more parts, but in my opinion the number of readers and comments will decrease as the episodes increase.
Frequency of publication of stories Another fundamental aspect in blogging, even for a blog that publishes stories. How many stories do you publish per month ? I would ask the question from another point of view: how many Special Data stories can you write per month ? That's why it's best not to exceed a certain number of words . The longer the stories, the more time they take to write. Limiting yourself to short stories and bonsai stories allows the blogger to publish even 3 or 4 stories a month, thus creating a blog that publishes with a certain frequency. If you can create an editorial calendar and stick to it, that's even better.
Stories no longer unpublished Many publishing houses don't like to publish stories that have already appeared online – and with good reason. If you decide to publish stories on the blog, you must therefore consider that those stories will remain on the blog and will most likely never appear in anthologies or magazines. Presentation of the author Don't leave the blog anonymous: write a page with your biography . A few weeks ago I talked about the pages to publish on an author's site , which too often I see missing. Readers want to know who you are, who writes stories in the blog they follow.
